St. Michaels Cottage
St. Michaels, Maryland
The project is for a small house located on a peninsula in St. Michaels
Maryland on the eastern shore of the Chesapeake Bay. The program for the
house was 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a living room and small kitchen.
The design of the house dramatically re-interprets and domesticates the
iconic Hooper Strait Lighthouse, built in 1880 and located at the
center of St. Michaels.
The language of the house - both interior and exterior, represents a
re-interpretation of the early American vernacular style prevalent in
the maritime culture of the region.
